Hospital sources of Aspergillus species: New routes of transmission?

چکیده
Opportunistic invasive fungal infections, in particular due to Aspergillus fumigatus, are an increasing problem in hospitalized, immunocompromised patients [1-3]. Patients at risk are those with hematologic malignancies [4,5], bone marrow or solid organ transplant recipients [6,7], patients with chronic granulomatous disease [8] and AIDS patients [9]. These patient groups have in common severe immunosuppression resulting from both granulocytopenia [10] and compromised cell-mediated immunity. The incidence as well as the mortality of invasive aspergillosis primarily depends on host factors and the timely Dirección para correspondencia: Dr. Adilia Warris UMC St. Radboud Department of Pediatrics, 435 P.O. Molecular characterization of Aspergillus infections in an Iranian educational hospital using RAPD-PCR method
Objective(s): The nosocomial infections by Aspergillus species are associated with constructions and increased dust loads in hospital indoors. Our main object was to find the environmental sources of Aspergillus species causing hospital acquired infections. Materials and Methods: The clinical and environmental samplings were performed during 18 months from spring 2010 to summer 2011 in Imam ed...

متن کاملRole of food in environmental transmission of Helicobacter pylori
Helicobacter pylori (H.pylori) is a gram-negative bacterium that has infected more than half of the world's population. This pathogen colonizes the human gastric mucosa and is usually acquired during childhood. It is an important cause of peptic ulcers, chronic gastritis and stomach cancer. Among the risk factors for acquisition of H. pylori infection, poor socioeconomic status, poor sanitizati...
متن کاملSynthesis and Evaluation of Lipid-based Nanoparticle Containing Ginger Extract against Aspergillus Species
Introduction: Loading the active ingredients of medicinal plants in lipid nanoparticles reduces the reaction of the active substance with the surrounding environment, such as water and oxygen, and reduces the intensity of transmission or evaporation to the external environment. In this study, intended to enhance efficacy of ginger extract, encapsulation in nanoliponiosome synthesized by thin-fi...
